Cyber Security: What You Should Know
Recent cyber attacks and rumors of attacks emphasize the need for utilities to protect their cyber assets. This session will discuss strategies and techniques including policies, procedures, and cyber security assessments. It will discuss firewalls, wireless access points, remote connectivity, mobile networking, intrusion detection systems, multi-factor authentication, applications, databases, and other technologies. The session will discuss the importance of identifying and securing sensitive information, security training, good patch and change management, integrating SCADA systems with CMMS and GIS, and protecting against social engineering. Finally, it will discuss where to start in conducting an assessment.
Operational Data Management to Optimize Utility Performance
Water utilities require reliable data to support operations, regulatory compliance, maintenance management, capital project planning, water resource management, water quality, and much more. An Operational Data Management System (ODMS) gathers data from critical systems to support business decisions that rely on operational data. Successful ODMS implementation requires careful planning within the context of Utility Business Requirements. This session will provide case studies of successful ODMS implementations and will discuss the critical steps necessary to plan and implement these systems.
