RANCHO CORDOVA, CA. – Westin Engineering, Inc. today announced expanded GIS and Enterprise Information Management services with the hiring of Jim Kiles and Ron Butcher, respected leaders in the geospatial community.

“Today’s utilities and local governments demand advanced spatial intelligence to facilitate business improvement,” said Doug Harp, President and CEO of Westin. “GIS is imperative in improving customer service, capital planning, asset management and emergency response.”

“Adding two respected leaders in this field strengthens Westin’s team and validates our commitment to leverage GIS as a tool to facilitate our client’s business performance,” said Harp. “We look forward to incorporating their expertise and broadening the services we offer our clients.”

Both Kiles and Butcher have extensive backgrounds in GIS and IT-related consulting including strategic planning, applications development, data conversion, systems integration and project management.

Kiles has 15 years of experience developing award-winning comprehensive enterprise IT and GIS integrated systems for a wide variety of large and fast-growing clients in public utilities, public works, emergency management, and transportation industries. He has worked with multiple departments to improve performance through effective business process reengineering, asset inventory and modeling, detailed database development, integrated land use analysis and master addressing, supported by advanced web development and application integration.

Butcher, with over 20 years of GIS and IT experience, has focused on developing geospatial business intelligence solutions within utilities, local governments, and aviation. His expertise includes business process analysis and re-engineering, workflow studies to integrate GIS with maintenance management systems, and applying technology to develop innovative systems that improve how clients manage water, storm, and sewer utility infrastructure and assets. Butcher began his GIS career as an application developer and understands how to leverage web and desktop application development to create a seamless enterprise asset management solution.
